Karekare surf winners At the NZ Surf Lifesaving Championships in March, the Karekare Women’s boat crew, consisting of Simone Johnson, Daile Lambert, Lorraine Brake, Nina Reid, and sweep Lance Hammond, cleaned up for the second year in a row, defending our Short and Long Course Boat titles. On an extremely short course compared to most, races lasted only 2-3 minutes and left no room for error. After good performances through the heats, we pulled off a technically near-perfect race in the 6 boat final. Karekare was the only crew to hold the wave and stay straight all the way in. more images here >>
