Christmas Buys – T-shirt Sale
10 am Sunday 27 July
We will meet in the Glade. Bring suitable clothing and shoes, a spade and plenty of energy.
The fire in January devastated a large area of the Cave Rock, and many trees and shrubs were burnt. Some of those trees were the Memorial Trees that families had planted over the past years.
Auckland Council Parks have provided some native plants (Pohutakawa, Karo and Flax) for the community to start the replanting of the lower slopes of the area. While this might seem a daunting task, as a community we need to get involved with the restoration of the area. Council are keeping a close eye on the regrowth on the slopes, and will be dealing with noxious weeds as required.
Any enquiries to John Edgar 8128555 or Caroline Grove 8128760.
The Unitary Plan replaces the existing Regional Policy Statement and 13 district and regional plans, and will determine:
The Unitary Plan was notified for formal submissions on 30 September 2013. Submissions closed on 28 February 2014.
Karekare Residents and Ratepayers Trust did not make a submission. However some local residents did make submissions requesting a relaxing of the rules relating to subdivision, building site coverage, building height, number of buildings per site, non-residential activities, and the objectives, policies and rules of the Waitakere Ranges Heritage Area Act (2008).
Karekare Residents and Ratepayers Trust will be opposing these submissions and residents can contact me if they require more information about how to make a personal cross submission. A cross submission is easily made, and it gives the person the right to speak on the matter before the Unitary Plan commissioners. Hearings will be held over the next two years.
John Edgar, Chairman, Karekare Residents and Ratepayers Trust
The next committee meeting of the KKRRT will be on Wednesday July 2nd, 7:30pm at the Fire Station.
